John brings over 25 years’ experience in supermarket and retail real estate to Gordon Brothers, where he specializes in providing business strategy, retail leasing, real estate development, and facilities management expertise to clients. Throughout his career he has managed anchor tenant leasing and project development for multiple shopping malls; assisted numerous landlords in identifying and securing food store leases; and helped many independent grocery operators lease, remodel and improve the operating efficiency of stores. For 16 years, John worked as Vice President of Real Estate, Store Development, and Facilities at SUPERVALU. In this role he oversaw the company’s capital development plan; led all new store real estate development; drove multiple store acquisition projects; managed the firm’s store remodel program; and routinely negotiated lease, supplier and credit agreements. He has also held a variety of real estate development positions at Harvard Community Health Plan, Zayre Stores, the Pyramid Companies, and National Amusements. He was a member of the Food Marketing Institute’s Retail Store Development Committee for seven years, serving as chairman of the committee for two of those years. John has a BS and MS in civil engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as well as an MBA from Harvard Business School.
