Managing Director, Business Valuations

Cameron Cook is responsible for overseeing business valuations and intangible asset valuations at Gordon Brothers. Prior to joining the firm, he managed equity, business enterprise, and intangible asset valuations at AccuVal-LiquiTec, prior to its acquisition by Gordon Brothers in 2015. Cameron’s reports have been used for merger and acquisition assistance, financial reporting under ASC 805, ASC 350, ASC 360, ASC 852 and ASC 718, bankruptcy and restructuring proceedings, divestitures, shareholder agreements, gifting, estate settlement, minority shareholder rights cases, marital settlement cases, financing support, and litigation support. During his career, Cameron has also served dozens of private equity groups and hedge funds, providing valuations of hard to value assets for the purposes of mark-to-market reporting and determining fund net asset value. With more than 20 years of financial valuation and consulting experience Cameron has served a wide range of clients, including owners of small and large businesses, boards of public companies, ESOP trustees, estate attorneys, bankruptcy attorneys, hedge fund and equity fund managers, and national and international banks. He has valued a wide variety of businesses ranging from venture start-ups and small family-owned companies to national multi-divisional publicly held companies and a wide variety of assets including patents, trade secrets, copyrights, software, brands, contracts, FLP interests, options, warrants and more.

As a court certified expert witness, Cameron has testified in various tribunal scenarios including before juries, judges, arbitrators and deposition hearings. His valuation reports have been used as evidence in tax court, bankruptcy court, and civil court. Cameron also worked as a business valuation manager of a large Midwest regional accounting firm where he conducted equity and business enterprise valuations for many small- to middle-market companies and assisted in their sale or acquisition. His industry experience is broad, including: food processing and packaging; lumber production and wholesaling; pulp and paper; furniture manufacturing and wholesaling; general contracting; carpentry; motor coach and other transportation services; personnel services; auto and truck dealerships; gas and oil; chemical manufacturing; steel mills and steel distribution; plastics; glass; metal; and many other manufacturing industries. He has also worked with numerous retail businesses and service industries, including financial institutions, advertising, design, health care, jewelry, sporting goods and clothing. Cameron has experience in valuing distressed businesses. He holds a Certification in Distressed Business Valuation (CDBV) issued by the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors, is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) in Business Valuation and a candidate in Intangible Assets with the American Society of Appraisers and is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). He earned an M.B.A. in finance, investments and banking from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He earned a Bachelor of Science with distinction in psychology and behavioral science and law, also from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
