Josh Podell has over 25 years’ experience representing many of the world’s largest retailers and retail conglomerates. He has completed over 5,000 transactions in every type of retail real estate nationwide.

Josh spent 20 years “in-house” with some of the country’s largest retail companies including Jones Apparel Group (subsequently Nine West Holdings) Petrie Retail (Rave division) and Warnaco. He formed Podell Real Estate Advisors in 2010, a retail advisory firm whose clients included; Carter’s/Osh Kosh, L’Occitane, Steve Madden, Eileen Fisher, Shiseido, Solstice, Sugarfina, Kenneth Cole Productions, America’s Best Optical, and major financial institutions.

A 2019 inductee of ICSC’s Outlet Hall of Fame, Josh has been featured in real estate and retail media including The New York Times, Chain Store Age Executive, Shopping Centers Today and WWD. Josh has been a guest lecturer for the MBA program at Hofstra University’s Frank G. Zarb School of Business and a guest speaker at ICSC’s Retail Runway, the Cornell Club, ICSC’s NextGen program, the Cushman and Wakefield Global Symposium, and the Penn Club. Josh was also honored to be part of Real Estate New York Magazine’s 40 under 40.

Prior to joining the real estate industry Josh was a legislative intern to The Honorable Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan (101st Congress) and staff assistant to the United States Senate Committee on Small Business (102nd Congress). Outside of work and family Josh has been a nationally ranked tennis player, a Major in the United States Air Force Auxiliary/U.S. Civil Air Patrol, and flotilla staff officer of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.
