Mill Stores Announces Chain Wide Store Closing Sale

Press Release

After over 50 years, Mill Stores has made the difficult decision to close most of its 13 retail locations.  Mill Stores has proudly served New England families with low priced, high quality, solid wood home furnishings since 1958. Store closing sales will begin on September 18, 2014.  Promotional pricing will apply to items in all departments.  In addition, customers will also have the ability to purchase store fixtures and equipment.

“These significant discounts are an opportunity for me to thank all of our loyal customers who have been shopping the stores over the years.  I am truly grateful for their support and I encourage them to shop in confidence during this transition to experience the same customer service and quality products they have come to expect from our stores,” stated, Phil Baroni, Founder of Mill Stores.  “Also, please stay subscribed to our newsletter for weekly updates, as will be announcing special savings this way,” he added.

Mill Stores has attributed it’s decision to close to several factors such as increased competition in the New England area, declining demand for its core competency, unfinished furniture, and a general weak economic climate over the past several years.

Gordon Brothers Group, a global advisory, restructuring and investment firm, will oversee the store closing sales on behalf of Mill Stores in all locations.  All inventory will be on sale with discounts up to 50% off. DJM Real Estate, the real estate affiliate of Gordon Brothers Group, will provide lease mitigation and disposition services for Mill Stores as part of the store closing project.

“This historic New England retailer is already known for its high quality, low priced wood furnishings and we encourage customers to visit their local stores to find even greater discounts while the selection lasts,” stated Tim Shilling, Managing Director of Gordon Brothers Group’s Retail Division.
