The Evolution of Consumer Brand Investments: How a Global Pandemic & E-Commerce Accelerated the Conversion to an Asset-Light Model

On May 13, 2021, Gordon Brothers hosted a webinar in partnership with TMA UK.

Tobias Nanda, President, Brands, and Nimit Shah, Managing Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, spoke about the company’s approach to its brand investments and how a shift to e-commerce and brand revitalisation are viable options for branded consumer companies as they look to reinvent themselves in the rapidly changing consumer sector.

In the ‘new normal’, Tobias explained there are more ways to monetise brands than ever before, but to achieve longevity, brands need to be capable of both adapting their models quickly and making insightful decisions.

At Gordon Brothers, our approach to investing in this environment includes embracing operating models with fewer fixed assets or costs that leverage partnerships and allow ecosystems to grow. Our Brands team has been at the leading edge of building and financing such businesses.

Agenda:

  • Our Brands Capabilities Overview
  • Conversion from OpCo to IpCo
  • Laura Ashley Case Study
